Our system not just free but it works
« on: July 02, 2014, 07:00:01 am »
Hello,
We finally brought our surveillance system on beta level. Which means it is free. We support many IP Cameras and able to do many things like peer2peer communication, no PORT forwarding, IP/Web camera support, WebM/VP8 video compression, mobile browser support, multi-user/multi-roles functionality and many other things. We decided to keep it free for anyone who signed while it is in beta. So take your piece :)

Valid questions, nobody wants to be "youtube star" someday :)
Short answer "It is by design", long answer:
vosvideo system is "central mediaserver-less", video stream travel point-to-point between your local computer with our dvr service and your browser (it should be latest chrome or firefox on any platform or device).
Going deeper into technology, we are using Google WebRTC engine that allows using our signaling infrastructure discover remote ip camera and establish direct connection.
Benefits: very low latency (real-time), no man in the middle, no archive in "cloud" (but we are developing option to deliver your files into google drive or dropbox) because it stays on your local computer.

Is this cloud service?  Recently I am unhappy with the Microsoft free custom domains service, because it declared to offer free service, just few days ago, they sent me a E-mail which said it stopped offering free service, and asked me move it to Office 365 Small Business Premium. This subscription requires US$150 per year.

Back to the topic, many IP camera manufacturers also are offering free cloud service, unfortunately I don't have confidence if they can offer the free service for a long term.  ???
Yes, you should check this awesome eRobot D1201. Not free, but very affordable.

Hi,
We are not offering pure cloud service due to many limitations. We offer real-time video streamming service as I described above and utilizingpower of your home PC. Sure cloud companies offer good approach (dropcam for instance) but limit you with camera selection, price, archive size etc. We also not perfect but it is matter of preferences , right ? Cloud service could be badly expencive after 8-10 cameras... We offer no limit :)
