ESC-IPC1-V 2.0 not switching to night mode
« on: September 14, 2014, 04:54:59 am »
One of my Empire IPC1-V 2.0MP cameras is not switching to night mode. Won't even switch manually using the browser config. This problem just started a couple weeks ago. Has any one else had this problem with this ESC model?

I haven't contacted them yet. Maybe I'll bang on it with a hammer. Something might be stuck inside.  :)

Camera switches to black & white at night but no night vision. Removed the camera from the side of my house and tested it inside. Looks like some of the IR LED's are lit while others aren't. I don't see any IR illumination in the area where the camera is pointed. It's just a very dark black and white image.

This is the camera that I replaced with one of the Poker 10x PTZ cameras. I sent Empire an email and also filled out their online RMA form. Haven't heard anything from them yet.

Anyone else have this happen to their ESC cameras? Could it be burned out LED's or a IR cut filter problem?

Lare, one of my Empire cameras went down  3 weeks ago. After 2 emails and 2 times filling out the RMA request over 10 days, there was no answer. I called them and they emailed me the RMA number right away. Give 'em a call.

Thanks frozen, I'll give them a call this next week. It seems their online support is non-existent.

I received an email last Wednesday with a tracking number. My repaired camera arrived yesterday and is fully functioning.  Empire support is working.

Finally received a  new replacement today for the defective ESC-IPC1-V 2.0 that wasn't switching to night mode. I sent the defective camera to Empire at the end of February this year. It took almost 3 months to receive the new camera.

It sorta looks like they've gone out of business since their website doesn't show any products.

One thing that's different on the new IPC1-V camera is that the base and mount are much heavier duty than the original version. This base is at least twice as thick as the originals. Here's some pics comparing the two.

Probably a victim of Chinese Hikvision sales.
I like the thicker base of the new one, I still have one Ipc-1 up with a hose clamp holding it on.

Yeah, the original base was fairly weak. I've read a few reviews about them cracking and breaking. So far mine are still holding up. I have 3 that have been installed for quite a few months. I still think the night images with these ESC cameras are better than my Hik's at night.

Looks like the company hasn't gone out of business. Got an advertisement email from them this morning.
